Mobile Elevating Work Platform Standards for North America – Start Preparing for Change

Original webinar date: May 24, 2017

Presenter: Tony Groat, Development Manager for IPAF North America

The proposed standards for Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) in the US and Canada are introducing new and broader changes that will impact all industry stakeholders. All will have 12 months after publication to become compliant. Planning sooner than later will get your business prepared and ready to address all of the proposed changes. The design standard will not only impact manufactures but also users of the equipment. Broader and more thorough safe-use requirements will impact users, supervisors, operators, and occupants of MEWPs. The training standard will provide clear and detailed requirements for training for operators and supervisors. Join this session to raise your awareness of key changes and begin your planning to meet these new requirements.

Injury Management Matters: First Aid or Medical Treatment?

Orginal webinar date: March 21, 2017

Speaker: Peter P. Greaney, M.D., is the President, C.E.O. and Medical Director of WorkCare, Inc., a national occupational health services company based in Anaheim, California.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has established definitions for first aid (non-recordable) and medical treatment (recordable care). It has also issued Letters of Interpretation to provide further clarification on interventions such as exercise regimens, splinting, taping and use of rigid braces. Effective work-related injury management requires knowledge of specific medical complaints, care definitions and appropriate response (right care, in the right place, at the right time, in the right setting).
